By decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova, the honorary title “Maestru al Literaturii” (Master of Literature) has been conferred on the writer, poet and investigative journalist Olga Căpățînă.
The decree states that the distinction is granted “in recognition of outstanding merits to the state, for professionalism and intense work in fields essential to strengthening the rule of law and the development of the Republic of Moldova, and for a substantial contribution to promoting cultural and national values as well as the image and interests of our country abroad”.
Olga Căpățînă is the author of thirteen books — novels, short prose and poetry — translated into Russian, Ukrainian, French and Italian. Her novel “Dobrenii” won the Writers’ Union prize for the best novel of 2019. She worked for twelve years in the palliative oncology ward of a Paris hospital and today heads the cultural association Club C’ARTE.
